Before the visit
Two things worth doing first
Look at the filter. If it is grey and solid, say so on the form — on a lot of calls out here that is most of the fault, and knowing it in advance changes what we bring.
Check the breaker and the switch. The service switch by the furnace or air handler gets knocked off more often than anyone expects, and a tripped breaker that resets and trips again is a fault worth telling us about.
